National Animal Shelter Reform Week

Little has changed at New York City Animal Care & Control since the blog I wrote a year ago. I picked up a dog for rescue just a few weeks ago and was told when I arrived that he wasn’t sick – a rarity. When he was led out to me through the common hallways to where I was waiting behind the front desk I could see that he wasn’t well and hustled him out as quickly as I could – I had to carry him because he would not walk. At the receiving rescue he tested positive for and was treated for canine influenza. He made a full recovery and has since been adopted.

Support shelter reform.
